5-Minute Açai Bowl

It's no secret that açaí bowls are extremely healthy and full of nutrients. I think this time of year reminds me of them because I always remember Christmas in Hawaii and being out on the water during windy season in Miami. Often associated with island life, this refreshing bowl actually originated in the depths of the Amazon.
Obviously, there is fruit on fruit on fruit, so yes, this has sugar. But before that turns you off completely, you should know that açaí berries are filled with antioxidants, can help lower cholesterol, and some studies show they could even have an anti-cancer effect. I try to keep it a healthy by adding only organic fruit and coconut water, stay away from processed juices always - they usually are full of sugar and have very little of the actual fruit. Here you have a 5-minute açaí recipe, perfect for an easy breakfast or snack!

Ingredients Bowl:
-
100 g açaí
-
100 g frozen wild blueberries
-
250 g frozen pineapple
-
80 ml coconut water
Ingredients Bowl:
-
5 small strawberries
-
1/2 a banana
-
1 kiwi
-
granola to top off - about a handful
Tips:
-
Thaw the frozen açaí under warm water if it's too frozen, you should be able to break it, it should not be runny
-
Try to buy organic fruit
-
Make sure the açaí you buy is unsweetened or has only a little sugar added
-
If you're having a tough time mixing, add more coconut water
Servings: 1 açaí bowl
Preparation: 4 minutes 30
Mix Time: 30 seconds
Total: 5 minutes

Steps:
1. Slice half a banana into slices, not too thin, quarter the kiwi, and slice the strawberry
2. Add açaí, pineapple, wild blueberries, and coconut water to your blender, mix until fully blended, about 15-30 seconds - make sure açaí is slightly softened, you should be able to break it easily (see tips above)
3. Place açaí into a bowl, top with the banana, strawberries, kiwi and granola
Enjoy!
